Big Boy Bunk Beds
It's official, Davin moved into his Super Cool Big Boy Bedroom today with his Super Cool Big Boy Bunk Beds. He was so excited, he's been playing on the bed and in the chairs all day long. The transition has been pretty easy as far as sleep goes, too. We just have to remind him every once in a while that his bedroom is now on the right side of the hall instead of the left, because he forgets! Now it's time to redecorate the "Baby Room" for a little girl!

Mini Cooper?
This is Davin's "car" right now. He's had it since he was tiny and had no idea what to do with it. But, these days, he is obsessed with cars, so he's been driving this tiny thing all over the house. Good thing there is a larger "4 wheel drive" car waiting in a box somewhere in our house for a certain 2 year old's birthday in a couple weeks.
He is constantly trying to get into the driver's seat of our cars so he can pretend to drive, and his favorite toys in the house are, you guessed it, his cars. Incidently, once he figured out that I was trying to take a picture of him on his car, he decided he needed to show me all of his cars so I could take pictures of them.

9 years ago I married my best friend. He has been my rock, my partner in crime, my cheerleader, and an amazing parent to our son! He's in New Mexico today; he had to leave at 3:00 this morning to catch a plane for Farmington, but I'm thinking of him and missing him on the anniversary of our wedding day. I love you, Thomas!

Happy Halloween!
Halloween has been so fun this year, and I think it will just be more fun as Davin gets older and gets the concept a little more! On Friday night, we went to the TMS Carnival, Dav loved picking the ducks out at the duck pond game, and ate two suckers in a row and got mad when I took them away because we were both a sticky mess! Tonight we went trick-or-treating, which he doesn't really get the concept of yet, but he was constantly digging in his bucket to pick out candy, and he discovered carmel apples at Grandma's house.

Tomorrow we have a birthday party for Grammy with the whole family. Her birthday was actually today (yesterday, I guess, since it's after midnight now)! Happy Birthday, Grammy!

Big Update
So, we just got back from our road trip vacation to Bullhead City, and we had a blast! Among other things, we visited the burros in Oatman, fed the fish at the Lake Mojave Marina, and hung out with Dad, Stephanie, Grampa, and Jeannie.

We spent the evening last night carving pumpkins for Halloween. Davin was so intent on watching me carve the faces for a while, then he occupied himself with climbing and digging, and taking the pieces of discarded pumpkin and offering them to Thomas. I love Halloween, and I'm so glad I have a good excuse to go all out on it again (meaning Davin)!
I spent some time this afternoon with Davin playing outside on his little slide and swing set. Playing and exploring outside with him never gets old! The weather today is amazing, too (so far). This is the reason I love Arizona, it's the end of October, and we are still playing outside in shorts and sandals!

Pumpkin Patch
Grammy grew pumpkins this year, and invited us over so that Davin could pick one. She had all types and sizes, but Davin immediately went after the biggest, brightest orange pumpkin. As he wandered more, though, he discovered he really liked the smaller pumpkins, as well, because he could lift them. He kept throwing them like he does his ball at home!

Our Firecracker is One!
Davin turned one year old yesterday. I cannot believe how fast this year has gone, but it has been so wonderful and amazing! We had his birthday party yesterday evening, and were so fortunate to have so many people- family and friends- join us to celebrate. I was excited to see all the "tiny people" come to play, as well. Davin loves other kids! He was especially fascinated by his cousin, Dinem, who he got to play with a little extra because Rik, Paola, and Dinem stayed the night with us. We did the standard cook-out, birthday cake and gifts, with a little patriotic flare of fireworks and sparklers. Davin was a little shy and uncertain about tearing into his cake and gifts, but with the help of all the other tiny people (and bigger people) he finally figured out what it was all about! Thank you to everyone who came over to spend the evening with us! And, Happy Independence Day!

Happy Easter!
I hope everyone is enjoying their day! The Easter Bunny was nice enough to stop by our house tonight because I have to work tomorrow. He brought Davin a big fluffy lamb to cuddle with and a sand bucket and shovel. Davin crawled around with the shovel in his hand for the rest of the evening! We had to take it away from him so he could go to bed. I think the Easter Bunny was a little bummed to get here and find that we have no eggs for him to hide, but I also think he realizes that the little man is not quite ready to hunt for them. Short attention span, lack of understanding, you know....

Tiny Gamer
I don't know if Davin's overwhelming desire to touch anything electronic stems from an actual understanding of them or the simple fact that they are the very things he is generally not allowed to touch. I do know, however, that he was very excited to have an old Playstation controller to bang around while his Daddy played video games today. A gamer in the making!

A Very Merry Christmas
Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! As for our household, this was Davin's first, and the thing he loved the most was taste testing the wrapping paper as he unwrapped gifts! He also got a very special visit from Santa!

Half Anniversary
9 years ago today, I received a call from Kiley, who told me that she had spoken to Thomas Dupont at the Pepsi Christmas party that evening and decided that he and I should meet. I agreed, and later that night I drove into town to find Kiley and this "Thomas" at the rest stop (classy sounding, I know, but that was actually a common place for us to get the crew together before carrying out our plans for the night). I remember thinking "wow, this guy's pretty cute," as Thomas and I climbed into the car to cruise Main. We talked quite a bit that night, and found out that we actually had a lot in common, and, yes, I did get a kiss! After that, I was hoping and praying that he would call me! He did, and we've been together ever since. We were married exactly 1 1/2 years later on June 8th, and so we've always called this our Half Anniversary. Thomas has told me several times that when he went home the night we met, he told his brother "That's a girl I could marry." Famous last words...

Santa Claus
Yesterday we took Davin to Park Mall in Tucson to meet Santa Clause for the first time. He did not want to pay attention to Santa or the photographer, he kept looking around in fascination at all the colors surrounding him! We also saw the upper extremity specialist for the first time yesterday, and we will see him again in 6 months. For now, he wants to monitor his growth and development, and will probably do surgery on his hand before he is 2 years old.

That's How I Roll
Davin, who has been practicing his roll, managed to roll over several times in a row, traveling across our living room floor a few days ago. He was so proud of himself! Now he tries for a repeat performance every time he plays on the floor, with varied success from day to day.
